A bit late, but better late then never.

Just a small update, on DMCC, round 1 having been completed the results have been posted. A couple of surprises for me to say the least, but Drift Posse 1st of all Qualified well, Pat qualifying in 2nd place, but the big surprise for me being Bradly Carlton pulling off a 1st place qualifying position shocking I bet quite a few people.

As for competition the top 5 came out like this.

1st:Marc Landreville
2nd:Matt Waldin
3rd:Bradley Carlton
4th:David Briggs
5th:Pat Cyr

Unfortunately Pat ended up having an issue with his throttle cable, but a solid finish overall for a car with a new engine, hopefully the bugs are worked out with the car by The time round 2 rolls along.

A minor update for me, New watermark has been made, getting good feedback with it and I have finally mocked up a card design, hopping to get it made soon.

The Beast Lives

Small little post, sadly last week during the Shannonville run, Pat was experiencing fuel delivery issues and the car was getting starved for fuel, it sounded to me like it was most noticeable at high RPMs. Thankfully, all seems to be settled now and the beast is running, I'm praying to see it in action.

DriftStream & Slide America

Quick little mention, for all drift fans checking this out might wanna scope out a couple of things that I"ve been watching while updating things on here, one being the Formula D DriftStream, featuring live coverage of Formula D for it's entire span of event. You can watch at, http://www.livestream.com/formulad It covers the live event as well as has the the events saved for later viewing. The Next live feed is June 4-5.

As well as Slide America an approximately an Hour and 40minute DVD covering grassroots drifting in the United States, you can pick it up from the site above for $9.99 USD and is definitely worth the purchase. A short trailer for you all, enjoy.

Gumball 3000 at Shannonville

Last Thursday the Gumball Rally hit up Shannonville and Toronto, Pat Cyr from Drift Posse was nice enough to give me a lift out for some DMCC car testing and to scope out some rare cars.

Another Toyota MarkII, pretty sure it's the same one that was being sold at DMCC last year.

Sadly not to much was going on, DMCC drivers were working out the kinks of their cars, sadly Pats car was really not looking good, it was being staved of fuel so he wasn't gonna risk the car by running it, it's thankfully been sorted out since then.

Brad Carlton rocking his much cleaner looking 240sx, seems to be running considerably better then in '09 hoping he does well and establishes himself a good place at DMCC this year.

The shooting conditions were less then great, it was very windy that day and just made shooting overall a hassle, the drifters stayed quite late and then DMCC guys took us all out for dinner, went and chilled at Kelsey's, had some good food, good laughs and overall was a great night. even though we got home quite late.

Peter Chrisikopoulos rocking his Silvia through the last turn of Shannonville, loving the colour and volume hes getting out of this machine.

Tania Bourbonnais working out the kinks in her Pontiac GTO (Rhys Millens old car before it was sold to her) hoping she does well this year at DMCC.

Unfortinately I'm not sure who this is, quite like the car though, a JDM Toyota Soarer, hoping I can find out the owner since I'd like to get a shoot with him, or the guy with the silver Soarer. (photo below)

A lovely pair of JDM Toyotas.

A car that needs absolutely no introduction, but if you are not aware, this is a Bugatti Veyron, its worth more then everything you own most likely

Another highly expensive machine, this being the Lamborghini MurciƩlago SV.

Toronto International Autoshow

Overall I gotta say I was fairly disappointed with the autoshow this year nothing blew me away, got to see a few interesting things, but nothing that overall wowed me with the exception of a Ferrari 599XX, but couldn't get any solid photos of it based on its position.

A very nice concept I liked very much, I don't believe it had a model name but I can see it being the successor to the current G37 down the line if made.

There was a few interesting concepts lurking around, the Infiniti above blew me away more then any, but there was a some cool stuff from Ford, Lexus, Honda and more. Unfortunately not as much interesting as in 2009.

An interesting car from Lexus, that was recently seem undergoing road testing. Personally a nice car I'd say, but seems to be something that should be coming from Toyota and not from Lexus, but an interesting car none the less.

Was disapointed that "Red Zone" wasn't there this year where they had some more unqiue things from some drift and some imports, but ya was taken out this year sadly.

A shot of a Ferrari California and the 599XX, sadly from this angle as you can see the California was blocking the 599, and there was a pillar directly in front of it so, this was near the only chance for a shot. Even asked if I could go in the sectioned off area for photos but understandably I couldn't.

A cool thing I wasn't expecting was a Shelby display with pretty much every car the lengendary man was involved with, was a great chance to see alot of automotive history.

My favorite version of the McLaren SLR, even love it in roadster form, typically something that I don't really go for. Very much looking forward to the new cars from each of these companies the SLS from Benz and the MC4-12C from McLaren.

The successor to the SLR, and Benz developed SLS AMG, parts about it visually I prefer to the SLR but also prefer the SLR in the rear.

Quite like this photo, and an absolutely beautiful car. My favorite Maserati without question

Adore the lighting on this photo, on one of my favorite cars in the world.

Was certainly not expecting to see one of these, let alone 2, the true Ferrari slayer. A little back story for those not in the know. This is a Ford GT40, back in the 60's Ford was planning on purchasing Ferrari, Enzo Ferrari (Ferrari founder and owner) had agreed to the deal but at the last second Enzo pulled out of the deal insulting Henry Ford. Ford decided it was time to go to war, and would take the war to Le Mans, where Ferrari was the force to beat. after some trial and error with the car, 2 years after it came out it took the 1966 Le Mans victory, and then subsequently took victories in '67, '68 and '69 insulting Ferrari. The car even managed at least 1 1st, 2nd, 3rd place finish. Easily one of the most famous race cars in the history of motorsports and certainly made it mark is history.

Never been a big fan of side profile shots, but this came out quite well, wasn't expecting much from the photo. This is an MK4 GT40, the last iteration of the car before it was discontinued.

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

This was the last shoot of the year, was a spur of the moment shoot was, shall we say an interesting day with some drifting a bit of an encounter with security, a near encounter with the front of a bus, and people in a hotel most likely thinking there was a shoot out going on hearing a 240 backfiring.

A near stock minty 240 coupe owned by a buddy of mine, sure its going to look great when hes finished with it if he keeps it.

Unfortunately we had a near accident on the way to the shooting location, going up to Downsview park the 240 I was in lost traction going through an intersection in the rain and jumped the sideway high median and went into the oncoming lane with about 7 cars and a bus coming at us, thankfully timing was on our side and we were far enough away from anything and ther was no damage to the car shockingly.

The lighting in this pic is a lil awkward but still a nice pic with a nice background

After Hitting DV park and getting harassed by security we went to a ditched garage for some different setting, its the same place I had gone for my Honda shoot a few months before not same garage but same area.

So ya, I uhh....I really dunno what to say about this picture, its a 240, its a WIP by the owner but ya, owner is enthusiastic about his car the scene and looking to see what comes out of it.

Buddy with the 240 above seemed to be quite enthusiastic about taking pics, hell at one point he ended up taking the camera for his own pictures.

I'm not a big 240 fan but pretty much love everything about his car, from the look to how it fires of flames from the exhaust.

Nice day thought to chill, meet some new people fuck around and have fun, and get some good pictures. A good way to end the season.

Little bit of recreational oversteer to close off the night.

2009 Recap, Forza Motorsport Autocross

Not to much to say about this event, was a promotional event for Forza Motorsport 3 they held an autocross at Exhibition grounds, can't say it was a terribly exciting day, tried to get some contacts for future shoots, but that failed miserably, need to get some cards to hand out but oh well.

Love this photo since it gives such a clear look at the metallic elements in the paint and its something rarely seem so close, wish I had used manual focus though, but oh well.

Got to see some interesting things though running stuff you would rarely see otherwise there was an old lotus, some shocking stuff like a wicked fast Subaru Legacy, some rally cars (including a rally legend) and more, sadly no exotics other then the little car show they had but not actively running in autocross.

This was intresting to see, yes before it's asked this is a real Viper I had asked, I wish I had hung around long enough to see the end result but had other things to attend to that day so couldn't.

Had my buddy with my GS300 come down was actually trying to coax him into running it and nearly did but in the end figured it was to big and heavy unfortunate would of liked to seem him try and rip it.

My favorite version of the Viper just wish it was in the blue with white stripes but oh well.

The rally legend I mentioned before, unfortunately its not the top spec rally Quattro but still a very nice find and a landmark car like this since things like the Impreza, Evos and the GTR Skylines as most know them most likely would not of existed without this car being made.

The 1st and thus far only GTR I've seen "out in the wild" still looking for one for a photoshoot but thus far that hasn't gone to good but we'll see what happens

2009 Recap more DMCC

Overall DMCC was personally for me it was the weakest DMCC that I've attended yet, but Still a great weekend none the less and I'm very much looking forward to this years events. My man Pay Cry unfortunately in the battle for 1st had an axle break and finished forth in the day so it was a disappointing day for his fans the overall winner was Matt Walden in a Tuner Icons/Mishimoto sponsored 350Z and he certainly did deserve it.

Loving the lips on this Zs rims and the smoke the car makes, this was the driver who finished in 1st in TO and overall during the season.

The weekend was VERY hot, I spent half of the day on day one in Pats pits since it was tented but was a cool (not literally) weekend overall.

Tania Bourbonnais in Rhys Millens old Pontiac GTO that she bought from him.

Hoping we get some night events this year at DMCC like in '08, even though I will be struggling to get photos with night tandems but we will see what they have in store for Toronto this year.

Fuel leakage after a hard hit early on it a run, was good to see him come back and still make qualifying though.

DMCC will be seeing Mosport this year, though not in Toronto it will be nice seeing a different venue since while Downsview park did the job, it was hardly the greatest place for motorsports.

Near hit after a case of understeer

I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing what Mosport has to offer to the DMCC season, the reveal of Mosport was quite shocking being that as is my understanding, Mosport has forbid drifting in the past.

Tuner Icons 350z shooting flames for the 500th time that weekend.

One of the 1st JDM Levins in the country apparently was picked up even before importers got a hold of them. very nice car though seen no flaws on it.

DOMO!

Was shocked to see one of these here (mid 90s Toyota Mark II)

That has to be uncomfortable to sit on...the floor that is

2009 recap DMCC coverage, Drift Posse!!!!

Now, anyone who is a car fan, who knows me knows how I feel about Drift Posse, but for those not in the know (shame on you.) I'll be nice and give you a lil information. Drift Posse is, needless to say a drift team based in Mississauga Ontario Canada that is largely composed of largely underdog and up and coming drivers.

Pat smoking his tires during his practice runs.

As of typing this they have 9 members, team leader and founder is none other then Pat Cyr: running until this year a 4AGTE AE86 in the DMCC pro division and is the shining star of the team with 3/5 1st place finishes last year and a 2nd overall finish. Brad Cross: in a Nissan 240sx, still an up and coming driver who is working on his skills but shows promise for the future. Dan Cyr: Not a drifter but the Drift posse videographer who has made some sick videos. Brad Cross: A BMX nut and resent just got his own 86, looking forward to seeing what he has in story for it. Curtis Lavigne: An Awesome guy who placed well at DMCC Toronto last year in the amateur division in his "el camino" 240sx, sadly I think he is sitting this year out. Corey Lehman: I unfortunately haven't met Corey but he doesn't seem to run in comp drifting, but has run an 86 240 and Supra. Amanda Carlton: Pats girlfriend and all around awesome girl who knows her way around a car, resently got a purple 240 and is just starting to get into drifting it, hope to see her running in the amateur division this year or next.

Brads Car chilling in the pits area.

Lastly the 2 newest members of Drift Posse Peter Chrisikopoulos who runs a lime green JDM S13 Silvia and can really get the tires on that thing smoking. and lastly Chris Budgell in a JDM 180sx another amateur division drifter who shows great promise and overall a cool funny guy who I look forward to setting a photoshoot with his car sometime this year.

Chris before officially becoming a Drift Posse member.

Drift Posse had a pretty solid year in 09 with Pat Cyr getting his first 1st place finish, and 2nd, as well as his 3rd, taking 3 of 5 1st place finishes and overall finishing 2nd in the season. I'm looking forward to seeing what he manages to pull out this year since each year things are just looking brighter for him and his underdog 86. In Toronto Curtis also finished solid with a 2nd place finish.

Overall things are looking bright for the underdog Drift Posse team, and I'm very much looking forward to hopefully seeing Pat podium this year in Toronto.

Pat on a refuel stop looking like hes ready to wreck some shit.

If you would like more Drift Posse info or check them out in general head over to www.driftposse.com

2009 recap, part I dont know anymore

Man I wish I had started this blog like I had said I was going too before rather then now, recapping is somewhat boring, as well as trying to recall the events of this day. This day was unfortunately somewhat of a bust really, it was a nice day and was fun, but shooting conditions where hardly ideal.

Sadly the only pic of the car to make it through final editing, shooting conditions simply weren't that great that day. But this car is also the owner of the gray Hatch 86, and just like the 86 this car books it, fastest speed I've experienced in a car, the 86 was more frightening mind you simply from the torque alone. But more about this its a 1st generation gs300, with a 2jz that been turboed, the owner is eventually looking for 500-600hp out of it, right now its only doing 300-350 and is currently limited with its still auto transmission, but the owner is looking to take care of that in the future.

Even though it was a bust when it came to the shooting conditions, and therefore pics was a cool day got to go up to FOTC (those in the know will know where/what that is.) for the 1st time, and got a few nice un-car-related photos too.

My banner photo, most likely going to be using this photo for a card design also.

Need to try and get some more of theses shots this year, as in less car related, but eh, we'll see what happens.

Love this photo, has a very....for lack of a better term "mystic" feel to it.Was very nice up by FOTC for car purposes and just chilling and relax, though we were afraid of being eaten by a bear...

2009 Recap Part 5

A small casual meet and shoot with members of a Canadian Toyota forum I'm on, we crashed a Supra forum meet, I got a chance to meet some contacts hope to get some shoots with some of these guys this year.

A lovely example of a nice mint clear 86

This day was fither proof for me these days of car meets are less about shooting at the meet itself, and more about meeting contacts for future shoots, there is such a lack of creative freedom, and even if you get someone willing to do a small lil thing away from the other cars its so hard to find the owner of the car your interested in.

Was actaully quite impressed with the speed these 86s get into the one above is near stock from a performance standpoint but with such a low weight it is really no slouch, granted it one was of the 1st times I've been in a car with someone flooring it on a street.

Was overall a good day though, got to meet some cool people, and hopefully some friends for the future and people who wont mind giving me a hand when I get my own Toyota.

One of my fav shots with some of my favorite cars, a lot looking forward to having some time with that gray hatch its doing about 260hp at the rear wheels with a 4AGTE, that machine when the pedal was on the floor, gave me a feeling of terror I have never felt in a car before, its interesting hearing "only" 260hp but when you put something that powerful in a car that ways under a ton, WOW it moves.

As usual check out my flickr for higher res photos as well as more photos from this set and more.

2009 Recap Part 4

A night shoot with my photography mentor and a few S14s, overall I ended up trimming alot from this set simply for things not working out how I had intended, still a good night though to chill, learn some techniques with some guys I met at the Son240 meet.

Another one of my favorite photos, it was a eureka moment for me, when I seen the set up, sadly though many pics from this location didnt work for medue to me experimenting with a horrid idea for lighting

Got to check out one my current favorite shoot locations, sadly I need to find more to stop reusing the same locations over and over again.

Would like to revisit this place eventually to try and take advantage of it a little better.

A long night btu had some fun, had a fear we might get ticketed and worried we would have a helicopter land on us, but all in all a good night.

As usual the flickr, and feel free to make wallpaper requests if you wish.
